Story Behind the Apple Logo

Apple got its ionic name in 1976, about the same time as it was established. The Apple logo is among the five of the most recognized emblems globally. The logo design of Apple brand hasn’t always been the same. It has undergone five significant design changes to become the iconic, bitten apple logo we know today.

How Apple Got Its Logo?

After the old-style logo created by Ronald Wayne, Jobs hired Rob Janoff, a graphic designer created a 2D apple with a bite and a rainbow spectrum splashed across it. In 1998 Steve Jobs removed the rainbow colors and replaced it with solid black for the creation of their model.  From 2001 onwards Apple fully embraces flat, logo design that comes in 3 colors: white, black and silver.

Apple with a Bite

Now it’s time to know the reason behind the half eaten Apple, Rob Janoff revealed two basic reasons why apple is bitten.  The first reason behind it is that “I designed it with a bite, so people won’t be confused that if it’s an apple or a cherry.” The second reason was “Also it was kind of iconic about taking a bite out of an apple, something that everyone can experience.”  Many also claimed that bite in the logo was to create a buzz among computer enthusiasts.  Another reason for Apple’s half-bitten logo concerns the British mathematician Alan Turing, he died because of cyanide poisoning, with a partially-eaten apple found nearby.

Possible Theories Which Influenced the Apple Logo

  • The job of creating the company’s first logo fell to Ronald Wayne, who decided to use ISSAC Newton’s image sitting below a tree – who discovered gravity when an apple fell out of a tree onto his head.
  • A theory about the bite  and stripes  relating  to  Alan Turing  has grown in,
